ToolWorx SmartPack™ system enables Transtar Autobody Technologies to double their packaging throughput and eliminate case labeling errors.

Challenge: With upwards of 70 pallets of product to prepare and ship each day, operations need to move quickly for Transtar Autobody Technologies, a Michigan-based manufacturer and distributor of specialty automotive coatings, adhesives, sealants and more. However, with a manual labelling process that required two hours each morning to apply more than 4,000 sticker labels - by hand - the company was experiencing a high percentage of errors and lower overall productivity than their growing business required.
Solution: Intermec PM4i and PX6i Smart Printers, PCM/Image-Tek Applicators and SmartPack™ software from ToolWorx Information Products. All errors can now be traced and more production orders are being run.

ToolWorx Shop Floor Data Collection system (SFDC) solution exceeds goal to replace redundant, wasteful and costly operations at Cincinnati-based Intermec Media.

Challenge: Eliminate error-prone, time-consuming, and untrackable manual operations along with costly repairs to old hardware that frequently led to searches for parts that were hard to replace or repair.
Solution: Implement ToolWorx Shop Floor Data Collection system (SFDC) hosted on Intermec CV60 fixed computers providing two-way interaction with MAPICS, Intermec Media’s business system. The solution also consists of Intermec SR30 and SR60 scanners, and PX4 printers. The scanners are used to minimize keyboard data entry and enhance accuracy while the printers provide real-time labeling to track production and jobs in process.
